Send Hispanics/Latinos Where?

The CHC, Congressional Hispanic Caucus is in plans to launch a Super PAC in order to send Hispanics/Latinos to Capitol Hill. The overall aim is to reflect the growing population of Hispanics/Latinos and create greater representation within the United States. With growing populations, “The U.S. Hispanic population reached 63.6 million in 2022, up from 50.5 million in 2010.”(Pew Research Center) It is important that there is proper representation in order to protect not just the needs of the people but also uphold the democratic process at the same time.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) and former Reps. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) and Filemon Vela (D-Texas) will lead Bold America, focusing on increasing Hispanic representation and mobilizing Latino voters.(Rafael Bernal, 2023)

With the continuous growth of Hispanic/Latino individuals within the states there is a growing competition between both republican and democratic members to secure this vast population vote in the 2024 election. While many Hispanics/Latinos remain heavily associated with the democratic party there is a worry that some of the population is shifting towards the republican party. This new Super Pac working along and with the help of other PACS such as the BOLD PAC aims to elect more Hispanic/Latino democrats into Congress and potentially influence the vote of Hispanics/Latinos.

  1. Hi Dhamar, The Congressional Hispanic Caucus's decision to start Bold America, a super PAC, is a positive step toward better representation of Hispanic and Latino people in U.S. politics, which is in line with the growing number of these groups. It tries to strengthen Democratic ties among this group of people, even though there is a clear competition for their votes, with the help of experienced politicians such as Gov. Lujan Grisham and former Reps. Roybal-Allard and Vela. This project, along with others like BOLD PAC, might be able to change the way the 2024 elections go, making sure that democracy stays open to everyone and adapts to changing demographics.

  2. Considering the substantial increase in the Hispanic/Latino population, the CHC's decision to establish a Super PAC to bolster Hispanic/Latino presence in Capitol Hill is intriguing. Indeed, the intensifying rivalry between the Republican and Democratic parties to attract the Hispanic/Latino vote in the forthcoming 2024 election introduces a captivating aspect. The CHC, in conjunction with other PACs such as the BOLD PAC, endeavors not only to increase the number of Hispanic/Latino Democrats elected but also to demonstrate a wider dedication to preserving the democratic process by promoting varied and inclusive representation. This proactive strategy highlights the significance of political involvement and representation in protecting the varied demands and viewpoints within the Hispanic/Latino community. It would be intriguing to assess the influence of these strategic endeavors on the political terrain in the forthcoming years.
