Spa Water? Cowboy Caviar? what is it?
Well, the names are actually agua fresca and ceviche, but these new names have been attributed to white Americans appropriating traditional Mexican food dishes. The problem comes from many individuals from the Latin American community accusing white Americans of not giving credit to the cultural origins of the meals and trying to pass them off as their own new trendy creations. This has led many to accuse white bloggers and creators of attempted gentrification traditional meals and renaming them things such as loaded corn (esquites), or seashell donuts (conchas)
Latino Podcast Ponte Las Pilas has addressed this issue and shed light on Latinos retaliation to the appropriation of Mexican dishes by reversing the role and giving American dishes new names in Spanish.

Many have counter-argued saying that eating Mexican food shouldn't be cultural appropriation which Latinos have also argued against saying that they don't discourage individuals from trying new meals but rather they do encourage them to actually inform themselves about the origins of the meal.
